Direct Observation: This is used most often by teachers and merely means watching a student complete a task or assignment to see how well they know the objective or standard.
Strengths: The teacher can immediately evaluate a student's learning and provide instant feedback to correct mistakes or misunderstandings.
Weaknesses: Direct observation only assesses what the student is working on at that moment. It does not evaluate everything a student knows about a subject.
Role of Technology:Teachers may use laptops to take notes as they directly observe students.
