Self Assessment

Self Assessment: Self assessments when used properly can offer students an opportunity to analyze their strengths and weaknesses which generates a reflection process that can facilitate growth and maturity in students.

Strengths: Students internalize the rubric standards for excellence producing internal expectations, when students are included in the rubric building process they understand what it takes to get to the highest standards and recognize them as real and achievable, students become part of their own grading process and except responsibility for reaching the highest standard possible.

Weakness: Students may be honest when assessing themselves, there may be a discrepancy between student perceptions of themselves and the teachers perceptions, students may not understand the relevance of the assessment causing confusion or apathy.
