Class Presentations: Assessments such as class presentations can be valuable for student learning by allowing students to gain a rich understanding of their presentation subject matter as well as allowing students an opportunity to work with others and finally putting the student into an authority position in front of peers.
Strengths: Class presentations give students an opportunity to be assessed by a different method other than formal assessment, students gain confidence by acting as an authority in front of peers, Students are exposed to subject matter they may not have previously encountered.
Weaknesses: Rubrics for assessments can be difficult to create, If rubrics are not designed correctly they can elicit differing types of outcomes and create student confusion, If presentations are done as a group individual work load can differ unfairly.
